چکیده
This study concerns a monitoring technique based on vibration measurements for identifying the presence of an acoustic source in fluid-filled pipe conveying turbulent flow. In such situation, source-induced vibrations can be smeared with flow-induced vibrations, which hinders detection. To increase signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), beamforming techniques applied to measured by array accelerometers mounted pipe. However, current problem is more complex and challenging than most typical applications due strong fluid–structure coupling resonant modes internal flow excitations. Numerical vibroacoustic methods are presented predict vibratory response excited monopole and/or boundary layer (TBL). The cross-spectral matrices computed radial accelerations induced detected TBL used assessing performance two techniques. gains using both, conventional MaxSNR approaches estimated. Results indicate superior MaxSNR, leads significantly higher gain.

Analysis of the nonlinear axial vibrations of a cantilevered pipe conveying pulsating two-phase flow
The parametric resonance of the axial vibrations of a cantilever pipe conveying harmonically perturbed two-phase flow is investigated using the method of multiple scale perturbation. The nonlinear coupled and uncoupled planar dynamics of the pipe are examined for a scenario when the axial vibration is parametrically excited by the pulsating frequencies of the two phases conveyed by the pipe. متن کاملNumerical analysis of heat transfer in pulsating turbulent flow in a pipe
Convection heat transfer in pulsating turbulent flow with large velocity oscillating amplitudes in a pipe at constant wall temperature is numerically studied. A low-Reynolds-number (LRN) k–e turbulent model is used in the turbulence modeling. The model analysis indicates that Womersley number is a very important parameter in the study of pulsating flow and heat transfer. Flow and heat transfer ...
متن کاملManipulating Flow Structures in Turbulent Pipe Flow
Two different tools, the non-empirical resolvent analysis and the data-based dynamic mode decomposition, are employed to assess the changes induced by transpiration in the dynamics of a turbulent pipe flow. The focus is on very large-scale motions. Both analyses permit the observation of streamwise waviness in the large flow structures and how the transpiration can inhibit fluctuation in locali...
متن کاملTurbulent pipe flow of shear-thinning fluids
Direct numerical simulation of the weakly turbulent flow of non-Newtonian fluids is undertaken for two different generalised Newtonian rheology models using a spectral element-Fourier method. Results for a power law (shear-thinning) rheology agree well with experimentally determined logarithmic layer correlations and with other previously published experimental work. As the flow index becomes s...
متن کاملDynamical Eigenfunction Decomposition of Turbulent Pipe Flow
The results of an analysis of turbulent pipe flow based on a Karhunen-Loève decomposition are presented. The turbulent flow is generated by a direct numerical simulation of the Navier-Stokes equations using a spectral element algorithm at a Reynolds number Reτ = 150. This simulation yields a set of basis functions that captures 90% of the energy after 2,453 modes. The eigenfunctions are categor...
